Who Was Mark Twain, a biography by John April James Price tells about a boy who was poor and became a rich man. Mark Twain was a poor boy growing up. All he wanted was to drive a steam boat (a boat that ran off of steam). However, he was only a kid and you had to be very good at driving the steam boat. Then when he got older he became a steamboat boat driver. People love him because he told stories about his adventures. So he found out he was good at writing stories. Read this book to find out about his life.

I like this book because I like learning about Mark Twain. It is very interesting how he used to sail out on an island and play pirates. All those adventures are in his book. The book also had some sad times for his daughter who died in a couple of months. His second daughter died when she was 22 from a disease. But he stood up for black people to not be slaves and wrote a book that told the truth.
