 Scat, a chapter book by Carl Hiassen, tells about a boy whose dad lost his arm in war. The main Character is a boy named Nick. All Nick wanted was his dad to come back from war. However there was nothing he could do about his dad coming home. So his mind went away from his dad because his biology teacher got lost in the Black Vine Swamp on a field trip. Nick and his friend Marta try to figure out what happened to their biology teacher. Read this book to find out with Nick and Marta what happened to the teacher and will Nick get to see his dad again.

If you like mystery Scat is a good book for you. I really like how Nick tape up his arm because his dad lost his arm in war. Also love the ending of this book. This shows that people can care so much about an endangered animal. The crazy thing is they put their lives on line. I have a personal connection, my dad was in the military in Afghanistan.
