Ranger in Time Attack on Pear Harbor, by Kate Messner, tells about a golden retriever named Ranger, who traveled through time to 1941 Hawaii. The main character is Ranger. Ranger loves to help people and save lives. Ranger wants to finish his job. However, he keeps getting more tasks. Ranger ends up helping a cook for the USS Arizona named Ben Hansen. He finds his friend, leads him to help, and gives him company. Ranger also helps two tiwns named Paul and Grace Yamada. He helped them find their friend, and lead them find their sister. Does Ranger get them to safety?


I like this book because it tells about how hard it was to be a Japanese family in Hawaii at that time. They thought there were spies because the Japanese bombed Hawaii. I have a personal connection to this book. My dad worked for the U.S. AIR FORCE COMBAT CONTROL and the U.S. AIR FORCE. Also, I have seen the USS Arizona and I have been on the USS Battleship Missouri Memorial.
